Last night, I met a young woman who brought her mom to the show. I'm horrible with names and the excitement of last night has caused me to forget her name. Anyhoo, I had a conversation with this young lady and she told me that it was her first time there and she had heard about the event from a friend. Her mom walked in smiling not really knowing what to expect. While talking to her daughter, let's call her Candice, I think that's her name, she told me that she had a rough few months going back and forth and in and out of hospitals with her mom. She refused to let her mom just sit and home and not enjoy the life she still has. She refused to concede to the challenges placed before them. She made a vow to take her mom new places giving her the opportunity to experience something she had never experienced before. A friend invited to #ArtisTreeLive last night. I said "you brought her on a great night!" As I stood on stage rocking out to #TankandtheBangas last song, I glanced out into the audience and saw that momma had pushed her walker to the side. She was smiling so big and nodded to every beat. That moment along with seeing this big ol melting pot of talent, love, appreciation divinity, art, respect and happiness in one room...that moment right there is what Artis(Tree) Live is about. #Jacksonville we do this for you...and WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN! #StayTuned Thank you all for coming out last night.
