Mad props to Joshua Rush for his command of subtle body language cues. His character - and Cyrus’s journey to accept his sexuality in particular - require some seriously nuanced acting. The way Joshua Rush is able to use breathing and volume to convey things like discomfort, distress, and relief, is really powerful. In “One in a Minyan” when he says “I’m gay”, if you pay attention, you can tell that his voice is weak and slightly shaking - just before he says it, and as he says it. You can tell Cyrus has decided in that moment to just do it, and in the seconds before he does, his heart rate goes up and makes him short of breath. A completely natural response. Josh could have delivered the line without inserting that natural body language, but because he does, the line comes alive. It’s so subtle. I’m blown away. I hope he has a fantastic acting career ahead of him - can’t wait to see him grow even more.
You don't talk about murder in the White House in front of the President. It's like talking about sex in the Vatikan in front of the Pope. You don't do this.
