David thinks he's Jay but he's not. Jay knows David isn't him. David isn't inherently cutthroat enough. He's too jaded, he's not calculating enough. He relies on cowardice and other bodies far too much to be Jay. David can do all the dirty tricks he wants they aren't the right ones. Singles championship after singles championship for Jay. First NJPW Grandslam Champion. Betrayed two different faction leaders (one on the same day) and he still had a following. Still had friends who stayed. Jay climbed to the top and left David behind, who can never reach his status because all David can do is chase him. He's too obsessed with Jay otherwise.
David thinks Callum is Will but he's not. Callum is actually Jay. Callum went from a rather timid seeming young boy to incredible success in basically two years, most of which David tried to ignore was happening. Until he couldn't ignore it. Until he beat David's dogs and he beat David. That Callum actually created a faction of sadistic killers, who had more legitimate reasons to follow him than the Dogs did David. Callum got the ultimate prize in wrestling, something David never could. In less years than David was even in New Japan. Callum took the remains from "one of the greatest wrestlers in the world" and made an army more willing to do what it takes compared to the WD. Compared to David. Callum definitively beat him, almost exactly two years after being chained to a cage to watch his old mentor and "brother" be beaten and cast out of NJPW. To which Callum (effectively) did the same. Callum reached heights David literally couldn't in less time than David. They both basically grew up wrestling in the ring. But Callum isn't Will. He's Jay.
