The basement reminded Forrest of the corn maze he had briefly spotted during his time at the festival, the maze which he had avoided entirely due to the fact that he hated not being able to see the exit. The hellhound had been uneasy since he’d seen the castle in the late afternoon, being inside it was a whole different kind of foreboding. It turned his blood to ice and made the presence in the back of his head all the more prominent.
As he attempted to gather his thoughts into something semi-coherent worth voicing, a misplaced step caused a small pile of junk to collapse with a series of thuds directly followed by several large shapes scurrying across the slick floor toward them. Nudging the person next to him out of the way as one rushed right at them, Forrest held his breath, hoping they would be drawn to the boxes and not the group of unwilling guests. “My apologies. Are you alright?” He asked in a low whisper, checking over the person he’d pushed the best he could in the dim lighting. “Provided the circumstances, I mean.”
