From time to time, Logan had trouble finding people with shared life experience. It wasn’t surprising, he figured. From what he could remember of it, the life he’d lead hadn’t been a standard one. Still, because the world was what it was, there were people, from time to time, that he related to. Unfortunately, some of those people were ones he didn’t always want any sort of kinship with.
For a long time, Logan had wanted the Winter Soldier dead. It was no real surprise, considering what the man had taken from him. It was only after he met the Soldier, only after the story broke about what had happened to him, that Logan realized he was wrong. Killing the Winter Soldier for what he’d done would be the same as melting down the gun he’d used to do it with. There was no justice in it, no retribution. You couldn’t blame a tool for how it was used, after all. The Soldier still owed him some favors -- they’d worked that deal out quick -- but Logan wasn’t looking for his head on a pike anymore.
That, of course, was subject to change when the man knocked on his door in the dead of night asking to borrow his nose. Logan was a man who took sleep where he could get it, and tonight, he’d been enjoying it easier than usual. It was an understatement to say he was grumpy as they stood on a rooftop near the center of town, Barnes loaded up with weapons and Logan wearing his usual uniform. “West,” he growled. “Couple blocks. City’s not that big, Barnes. Could’ve done this on your own. Or in the fucking morning.” Though he’d never admit it, Logan was sort of grateful Barnes had come to him. The man they were tracking down, from what they’d found so far, had had his hands in a lot of different organizations. He was with Weapon X just as much as he was with HYDRA, making this vendetta a shared one. “Gonna wanna talk to him,” he noted, glancing over at his companion. “Before we rip him to shreds. I need to know what he knows.”
