No, no this couldn’t be happening. Not to Cora, not to anyone really. But this was Derek’s little sister, her young friend and it would devastate them both to loose her. Aislin should never had said she would go to the lake with her. She hated the water. “Hold on Cora. Everything will be alright I promise you.” She waded further into the water trying to catch hold of the girl. She could see her struggling something trying to pull her under water. ‘Come on Aislin, you’re stronger than this.’ She just wished she had learned to swim when she was younger.
Feeling the tears fall down her face she reached once more toward the girl and that watched as she went under. Aislin screamed when she didn’t come back up after a few seconds. “Cora. Please someone help us.” Why did it have to be so deserted, why did she have to sign her out of school so they could have a day together. She took a deep breath as she decided to go under. It could get them both killed but she prayed it wouldn’t happen.
Seeing the brunette under the water, Aislin reached out and wanted to curse as she just managed to touch her fingers. There was something in the water with them and she didn’t know what it was but it was enough to get her angry. Aislin couldn’t tell you what happened next but she felt her magic explode out of her and attack the creature. She grabbed Cora quickly and kicked toward the surface. At least the water wasn’t deep where she was.
When she got them out of the water. She felt for a pulse and felt none. At least she knew CPR. Aislin laid the girl down and began compression and breathing for her. It felt like eternity before Cora was spitting up the water but it was probably just minutes. “Thank god.” She grabbed the younger girl in her arms and held her close. “It’s all alright. You’re safe now.”
