Their big valentines treat was their holiday to Bern but of course Dongwoo wouldn’t leave it just at that. He wasn’t a man to do grand events like Erik was, he was more understated with his expression, but that didn’t mean that what he did was any less meaningful.
He had rented out a keyboard, something awkward to set up online while he was back in Seoul and needed to hire one out in Bern but he had managed it, and he had arranged for it to be hidden under their hotel bed so Erik wouldn’t find it. These things seemed simple but were surprisingly complicated, not that it stopped him from doing it and being sure it was right.
He wanted to create memories rather than give possessions, he wasn’t grand like Erik was but he could still do something, and it was that which lead to him getting the keyboard out while Erik was in the shower and making sure it was working as quietly as possible. The keyboard was working and on the right setting and something else he had hidden in the case, a gift certificate for a spa day for two, was luckily not forgotten and he placed it on the bedside table propped up against the bottle of champagne he had ordered through room service. He waited for Erik to return from the shower, nerves bubbling in his stomach, and as soon as the bathroom door opened he started to play a song which he soon added his vocals to.
He knew that Erik had heard him sing it before, that he had overheard when Dongwoo had been in the shower, but he had never actually sang the whole thing to the demon before. It was written about Erik, in the period between them talking further and getting together, and openly expressed his feelings during that time.
Erik really was glad the pair had been able to get away for a double celebration. A honeymoon made even more special by the celebration of the first valentines day together and while the vacation itself was his main gift, he did also have a card and a small quality box of chocolates hidden away somewhere in their room with the hope they wouldn’t melt.
While he didn’t need to shower, it was something that he liked the sensation of and he loved the various scents of shampoo and soaps that would linger on his skin for the rest of the day and with the day being special, he even more so wished to make an effort and so had dragged himself off to clean and wash his hair before he was turning the shower off, stepping out onto the floor and drying himself off with a towel before it was wrapped around his hips and he headed off into the main room to grab a fresh pair of clothing.
However once he was in the room, the clothing he had planned on grabbing was the least of his priorities as he was met with the sounds of a keyboard which was soon followed by the melodic tone of his husbands singing.
He shuffled a few steps towards the bed before sitting at the end of it, his head tilted and a soft smile on his lips as he watched and listened to the beautiful sound of the younger’s voice. The words were beautiful and stirred up memories inside him of when they had first started really getting to know each other.
