"I got a new audio book.” The doll announced and despite the fact their was a small smile on their lips their tone was still a little emotionless. It was difficult being thrown into a world when you knew nothing of it or even how to be human but slowly they were learning.  Being unable to read just yet meant that they had no other option but to literally judge a book by it’s cover in hopes they’d like it. “Have you read it?” They asked as they reached into their bag to pull out the audio version of Little Fires Everywhere to show to the woman.

Min really did have to be careful with how weak their skin was because it didn’t take much to bruise their pale flesh and if they bled then getting it to stop was a nightmare. They were human now but it seemed that their skin was just as fragile as it had once been when they had been made of porcelain. They were always careful but nobody could protect themselves completely from the dangers of the world. 

The doll had just been taking one of their daily walks to a new area of the City to learn more about where they lived but when something solid collided with them they were sent flying back down onto the floor. The man in question didn’t even stop and continued rushing down the street to wherever it was they were going without an apology but the doll was in panic. “Oh no...” They breathed out as they looked at the scratches on their arm that were already starting to bleed heavily despite how small they were. “No, no, no...” They were probably drawing strange looks to be still sitting on the ground but Min didn’t care. They had more important things to worry about.

“I don’t understand.” The doll mumbled in obvious annoyance as they stared down at their phone in their hands. It was working perfectly yesterday or at least so Min had thought and now it wouldn’t make a sound. It didn’t matter really given that they didn’t have any friends and so nobody ever called them but still they wanted a working phone.

They really were going to get themselves into trouble one day because with a sigh of annoyance at their phone they approached the first stranger to pass. “Excuse me.” One thing they had managed to learn since being human was basic manners even if their voice still sounded a little emotionless. “Do you know what I’ve done to my phone?”

Most people would offer to help if they saw somebody struggling with something so heavy but not Min. They were yet to learn social etiquette and were still just trying to learn the basics of what it meant to be human and so instead of rushing in with offers to carry something, they tilted their head and watched. “Is it heavy?”

Min couldn’t help but think people were strange but then again weren’t they now people? They bled, they breathed, they walked and they talked just like anybody else and while those things came naturally to them, not everything else did. Hobbies were such strange things and they still didn’t know why anybody loved running around after balls or shouting at their monitors when they played games. They got nothing but their new ‘friend’ if that was something they could call the male seemed so amused with what he was doing. “Is it really fun?” His words came out with a curious infliction. They weren’t judging, they just didn’t understand.

It was strange to see a man sitting by themselves in the middle of the night and staring up into the sky but that was exactly what Min was seeing. Weren’t people social creatures who always walked and gathered in groups? That was what they had observed and now believed and so their curiosity was peaked into why somebody would choose to be alone. They ended up following their curiosity and walked over to him him, sat down beside him without a word and they stared up at the sky to try and see whatever it was the man had been staring at.

Min knew so little about social etiquette and so they were often acting in ways that most would disapprove of. It wasn’t exactly their fault nor a fault of anybody who had raised them since they hadn’t exactly been raised. For so long they had been nothing more than an inanimate object that one day found themselves taking their first breath. 

They had thought nothing of walking over and sitting opposite the male at the cafe nor did they even think about the fact they were staring at him. Min was just curious about him, perhaps because in their few days of life they had seen so few people and something about this man was different.

Min still had so much to learn and one day they really were going to get themselves into a trouble and perhaps that day would be it. They pulled themselves up off their seat and walked over to somebody a few tables away and once he was there, they pointed at the strangers dish. “What is that?”
