Little Love 2/7
(AO3)
It was supposed to stay like this forever. C-ta would ask A-ya to walk home with him, and he would say yes. They could spend all of their time together and never have to worry. Then that B-ko had to come along and ruin it. So what was C-ta supposed to do now that A-ya doesn't want his help?
("Get a cat," D-ne said, grinning ear-to-ear. It wasn't funny.)
===
The weekend saw C-ta in a flurry of activity.
His first purchase was a litter box -- he’d already woken up that morning to a smelly surprise in the corner of his room, and the sooner that stopped the better. He knew that taking care of a cat would mean sacrificing some of the cleanliness of his room, but he had a limit. Aiko needed to understand that it was still C-ta’s room and not the dirty park where he used to live, just like how A-ya knew better than to toss the bedsheets everywhere or leave a hundred books lying open on the floor whenever he came over.
Next was food. There was a lot of contradictory advice online, and C-ta knew he’d have to look into it more, but Aiko still had to eat in the meantime, so he picked out a couple of brands of dry food that he’d seen good reviews for. He was a little low on spending money at the moment -- he’d put a fourth camera in A-ya’s room just a couple days before, which had set him back a bit -- so he didn’t feel good about the very fancy looking wet food on the high shelf.
