Unforgettable Experience
Hello everyone!
One of the things that runs this world is sports. This industry has been increasing drastically in last couple of years, for example more opportunities being available. A sport that recently started their season is basketball. This is my favorite sport to watch and would have been played but I am terrible at it. Since high school, I have always wanted to be apart of a team.
Currently I am a fourth year finance student at a Cal State. During the fall semester of my third year, I got involved with the Men's Basketball team as a student manager. They had me doing minimum work due to my lack of experience in the sport. Ever since then I have been consistent, asking questions, and putting extra time into learning the ropes of being a manager.
I went through the entire season working most home games but did not get the chance to travel with the team. The staff did express how they would like for me to travel but was a little complicated due to the fact that I am the only female on staff. I kept on working hard, thinking that I would never be able to travel.
In this new season, at the start of September. One of the coaches, asked if I was available October 18. When I said I was, he told me that I was going to fly with the team to San Jose for a scrimmage. I was so shocked, I couldn't believe it. He told me that everything has already been worked out, to not worry about nothing.
The 18th just passed, and all I can say is that it was a great experience. I was super nervous because I didn't know what to expect. Once we got to the University, I felt relaxed because I was doing what I would normally do on game days.
As the Ithaca College men’s basketball team has jumped out to a 3–1 start, several student managers have been working behind the scenes to m
At this point is when I realized, how much I contribute to the team. Players don't even know half of the things that I do in order for them to have a smooth. This is something that I love, I have always been a behind the scenes person and knowing that I helped someone with their success. Never knew that I would have gotten this far, note for myself, never say never.
