What are you working on for your first 2020 cosplay?? . . I’m always curious what everyone is making!! I’m trying to plan out my year and what projects need to get done by which deadline. More Ursula photos from my shoot with @portraits.n.cosplay at the @disneyd23 expo!!! I love how the tentacles are all splayed out on the ground!! . . My sewing abilities have come so far since I made this costume, in terms of both patterning and construction, so I would love to make this costume again using the skills I’ve picked up in the last two years. 2019 in review: one more transforming fairy godmother post because I’m just so proud of this project!! Swipe for the transformation and the before and after pics!! . . This was a monumental challenge for me to make! The entire costume from the foundation garments up was self patterned, and it required a lot of trial and error, countless hours of draping, three versions of the bodice, and many many mistakes to finally come together as one cohesive transforming costume. A good portion of this costume is based off historical garments from the 18th century, but just as much is free form because surprise, there are not many pattern examples for theatrical transforming costumes!! . . 2019 in review: the @disneyd23 Mousequerade was definitely the hardest thing I did in terms of cosplaying this year!! Swipe to see my onstage transformation!! . . Not only was this my most technically challenging cosplay, I also have atrocious stage fright. I’m not super sure why I like doing these things to myself, but I don’t want my fear to stand in the way of my goals, so I did it anyway!! I have pretty severe anxiety, so if I didn’t do things I’m afraid of, I’d pretty much do nothing at all. . . I semi black out every time I get on a stage and rarely remember what happens, which is probably for the best, but I had a lot of fun anyway!! As this year comes to a close, I’d like to take some time to reflect on some of my favorite moments that I’m most grateful for throughout 2019. . . The @disneyd23 #mousequerade would definitely be one at the top of that list!! I despise being on stage, it makes me incredibly nervous, but it also pushes me to create at the top of my game and to challenge myself with new techniques and innovative design. . . This transforming fairy godmother was such a big project for me! It was entirely self patterned, it was my first time working with lighted costumes, it challenged my wig styling abilities, and every construction technique I thought I knew.
