Sometimes D2L tries a bit too hard to hold onto you. There might be a new web page that you would like open but D2L will open it inside of a frame, if you're working on a small laptop display you end up losing a bunch of the screen to D2L clutter that you really don't need at the moment. Sometimes you might simply want to have a few webpages open at the same time.
So, here's another pro-tip.
A right mouse button click on a link (or a two-finger click on a track pad or a click while holding down the control button on your keyboard while using Mac OS X) will give you a little menu that will allow you to escape the confines of D2L. Choose to open the link in a new browser tab or window (see the helpful image above) and you'll be free.
This tip will work in any modern browser (e.g. Safari, Firefox, or Chrome). I don't know what Internet Explorer is like these days. But I bet it works there too.
