When it came to physical mutations, Lorna figured she’d gotten off sort of easy. After all, green hair could easily be seen as a fashion statement, could be passed off simply as a conscious decision rather than a genetic anomaly. She wasn’t ashamed of her mutation anymore -- she’d grown out of that long ago -- but it was always easier to be able to remain unseen in public when you could. For a long time, Lorna knew, Kurt hadn’t had that. His mutation hadn’t been one that could be passed off as natural or hidden with a hat. She’d never felt sorry for him, if only because she knew she wouldn’t have wanted his pity had their roles been reversed, but she’d admired him in a way. She still did, and she was happy for him now that he’d found a way to blend in in public.
Unfortunately, at the moment, she wasn’t looking for a conversation with him or anyone else. Her mind was still reeling from the information Erik had shared with her, information she wasn’t ready for anyone else to know. If she had a moment to sit still, she thought, it might ease a little, but she hadn’t. After Erik’s bombshell had come Wanda’s, and Lorna still couldn’t process them all. So when Kurt approached her in the courtyard, there was every chance that she was less than pleased at his arrival. Clenching her jaw as he slid into the seat across from her, Lorna crossed her arms over her chest and did her best to ignore him in a way that wasn’t too obvious, hoping he’d get the hint and go talk with someone else. She doubted she’d be that lucky, of course; she rarely was.
