If God made us to be naked, why is there a stigma in “showing too much skin”?
Here's some background before I answer your question:
In the beginning when God made Adam and eve they were without sin. They were pure. There was no evil thoughts or intentions when God had made them. They saw each other in their purest form and there was no lustful thoughts or sinful actions that pertained to nakedness. They were open and vulnerable with each other because they knew that God had wanted it to be that way. There was no reason to hide their skin because there was nothing that made them guilty of showing it.
You ask why there is a stigma of showing too much skin? Well because when Adam and Eve bit the fruit they *realized* they were naked. Their eyes were open to the fact that They disobeyed God and because of this they not only wanted to hide from God. They wanted to hide the sin from each other too. It made them feel unfomortable and unnatural. They no longer felt pure and instead wanted to cover up the sin that they had done. Even after God had found them he provided clothes for them. He knew that once they had eaten the apple they would immediately see each other not in a Godly perspective but in a sinful one.
Now to answer your question:
We use our eyes to see. The eyes are the pathway to the soul and heart. Because of our sinful nature we are prone to have a sinful perspective on things but because of Jesus Christ we are able to have a Godly perspective. But that does not denote the fact that we wrestle with our flesh everyday. Simple things like wearing less clothing and showing more skin can make us more susceptible to lustful temptations. It is better to guard our hearts by fighting against those traps and knowing what is appropriate to wear and what is not.
(I'm answering this at work so it might be a little scatter brained. Sorry😔.)
