okay recently the dad!murphy server has been talking about Murphy with twins and I am here for that.

I also think that Murphy probably wouldn’t become a dad on purpose. Like, he just never thought it would be something he would do, but then, y’know, oops, and he is the best dad ever.

If you’re still taking the Murphy asks. Let’s talk Dad!Murphy Halloween Edition! Is he the sort to have a family costume? What snacks is he cooking? Are him and Emori bending the rules slightly on this one day of the year to encourage their kids to be sneaky and get alllll the candy (especially at the Blake’s house?)

Okay anon, please know that I am always down to talk about Murphy. Also I am very excited to answer this one since it is festive and on theme with the day, so rip to the other ones that are in my inbox that I got before this, though I WILL get to those at some point!

John Murphy goes ALL OUT for Halloween. In the Murphy family, every baby for their first Halloween is dressed as a pumpkin, no exceptions. But then I think the whole family gets involved after that. I think @helloeurydice brought this very cute Ratatouille costume to my attention that I totally think Murphy does with one of his kids one year. And Emori would be dressed as the other chef lady that I have now forgotten the name of.

I think once the kids are older and want to do their own costumes, Murphy goes back to like a couples costume with Emori. And of course my personal favorite as evidenced by my stay at home dads fic and the AMAZING piece of art that @poppykru did for me is Murphy and Emori dressed as Gomez and Morticia. It fits their vibe super well.

I’m now kind of picturing them having the Halloween party with all their friends and their kids at their house, in which case Murphy comes prepared with like all sorts of baked goods. Probably different assortments of brownies, cupcakes decorated with spiders and ghosts, things like that. But the crowd favorite by far are Murphy’s pumpkin snickerdoodles. This is probably one of the only days of the year that Murphy encourages his children to eat as much sugar as possible lol.

And then when it comes to trick or treating, I feel like Murphy and Emori have probably said something to their children along the lines of, “Listen, you’re very cute, which means you can probably get more than one piece of candy if you play your cards right.” I think Emori takes the kids out trick or treating while Murphy stays behind and hands out candy. 

Murphy’s favorite part of the night is when he “inspects” the kids’ candy haul so that he can take a few pieces for himself, as is parent tradition. They always complain, but they get a lot of candy to begin with, because they’ve learned to weaponize their cuteness. I feel like he probably tried to do that “I ate your Halloween candy” video thing that Jimmy Kimmel does and his kids were just like, “Nice try, Dad.” 

Halloween is just a very fun day in the Murphy household filled with far too much sugar and a very good time.

I love the idea of Murphy attending "mom & baby" classes. My friend has a baby and she took him to baby yoga, thinking she got to do the yoga but it was baby friendly, so it didn't matter if he made a noise or whatever. HOWEVER it turned out that it was yoga for the actual babies and was basically an hour of them putting their kids in all these yoga poses. Now I love the idea of Murphy accidentally getting himself into a situation like that and he's sat putting bbg into a downward dog like wtf!?

Omg that’s hilarious!! 

I feel like Murphy’s interpretation of the class was probably that he and his baby could do yoga together. So though he doesn’t really like yoga, his thought process was like, “well it’ll be more fun with a baby.” And I can imagine like Murphy kind of looking around the room as the class begins to make sure that everyone is actually making their babies do the poses. And he kind of frowns but then looks down at his kid and is like, okay? But that’s a class he never goes back to, lol.

I feel like based on his personality you might go, “ah yes, Murphy’s the fun parent” but I actually don’t think he is? He caused way too much trouble as a child to let things slide with his own kids, I think. 

Another one of my fave headcanons is that he loves taking his kid to those “mommy and me” classes. Particularly the ones that involve music. I think he enjoys getting out of the house with his kiddo a couple times a week, and he probably makes a bunch of friends seeing as he’s usually the only dad in the room. And he probably thinks his kid looks so cute trying to figure out how a xylophone works, I’ll bet he’s got a million pictures.

Speaking of pictures! Last one lol. I feel like Murphy is the person who always made fun of parents for taking and posting too many pictures of their babies and putting them on social media, but then he has a kid and he immediately changes his tune. He has to share how cute his baby is with the world! And she’s always doing cute stuff. His camera roll is legit just pictures of his child.
