So in a very bizarre turn of events, writing the Starker Daddy hat fic is part of what led to me getting together with my incredible girlfriend, and I wanna share that story.

The Hat

For the few of you who may remember, I wrote two Starker fics in April based around Tony wearing this hat, and Peter thirsting after him.

Flash forward a few days to me telling the cute enby I'd been flirting with about this fic. It was the first time I was fully explaining the kind of fic I write, and while they had read a lot of MCR stuff growing up, they're not big into fic, so this was a big deal. I was very nervous about how they'd react to the sheer amount of daddy kink/taboo fic I write.

They got obsessed with the hat because how can you not? And I drunkenly joked about how they're a bottom/pillow princess and should wear it ironically.

And then I proceeded to actually buy it for them and have it mailed to their house. (In my defense, I am an Aries with little self control and we were penpals at that point so I knew their address, also I was very drunk). It was very cute.

But then months went by of us massively slowing things down because I was once again Going Through It ™, and I needed to just be friends and not dive into a relationship. They were very patient and sweet through this time, even though it was kinda killing them inside.

The Daddy hat become this uncomfortable representation of all the hope we felt at the beginning of talking and how confusing things had become since then.

I eventually realized that I was an idiot for trying to start looking to date other people when My Person was right in front of me (albeit a four hour drive away). We made plans for me to drive down to stay for a few days and hang out irl for the first time this summer.

Things went VERY well, and we ended up going on a first date to a super cute museum. They wore the Daddy hat. Which was super cute and meaningful because we have joked about them wearing it for our first date in those months before things got weird for us. I fell in love, and basically immediately after coming back from that trip realized that I for sure needed to be with with them and couldn't risk losing them.

They still have the hat and wear it sometimes on their college campus, which is fucking hilarious because it's a very conservative private Christian school.

But yeah, that's the story of how the Daddy hat became a key part of my current relationship, and helped us become a lot more comfortable with being open about our kinks.

Sometimes fic becomes a very real and meaningful part of your life because of the people you connect with it over.
