Niche Pride Flags
Being an internet Daddy exposed me to some interesting sexual experiences that I otherwise would never have had. I'm incredibly grateful that I get to see much more here than the average person would and I have found myself needing to describe things that are very complex. I don't think labels should define us, but I do think it's helpful to have words to describe our experiences to others. It's important to be able to plant your flag in the ground and be unapologetically you, but for that, you need a flag, so I made these:
This is the Straight++ flag. You could also it a heterogender attraction that doesn't really have to do with a person's sex or anatomy. It's the "I'm attracted to genders that aren't mine" sexuality, which happens to be my experience. The crosses make up a spectrum of grays in an otherwise black and white world, but also cut across the field to show that they aren't limited to just being in-between. And because these kinds of relationships are straight passing, I also like to see the crosses as swords, one for you and one for the person you love. People often try to invalidate these kinds of relationships because they're simultaneously not straight or queer enough to be a virtue in whatever space is being gatekept. Still, a Straight++ person is an accomplice when an ally won't cut it, so I want this flag to be there for those who love and defend all those shades of gray.
This is the Two-Star Lesbian flag. It's for the lesbians who become interested in more than just women when in trance or subspace. The pink bars and orange circles draw from the seven colored lesbian flag and mean the same things, although I changed the order in the circle so it's community on the outside, then nonconformity, then identity at the core because the circle itself symbolizes the submissive lesbian themselves while the stars represent their life partner on top in pink and their play partner on the bottom in purple. The points of the stars are meant to imply a spinning motion, passing through the grayscale that represents the diverse range of attractions these people feel as the sink into a spiral. Some people might say that Two-Star Lesbians aren't lesbians at all because they aren't exclusively attracted to women all the time, but everyone I've met has seen themselves as lesbians and live their lives in that identity. Submitting to someone outside you regular relationship and trusting them with you mind and your love is an extremely brave thing to do. I want this flag to be there for those who reach out and catch the stars.
There lots of little things I can't cover in this post and there many more interesting and unique experiences that I haven't yet captured or named. I just wanted to share these and if they help, I want you to have them. If I make any more, I'll add them below. Until then, plant your flag and keep being you.
