Bradley: anyone know any good books that make you cry? Ice: Mav's medical records
• When Bradley cut off Maverick he had a son very shortly after that and Bradley wanted to name him after his dad
• But Bradley soon came to the realization that, Maverick was just as much or even more as a dad to him as well, so he went with the name "Mitchell Nick Bradshaw"
• Now post Top Gun Maverick/mission Mav found out about the kid (from going through photo albums on Bradley's phone but still) and Of course Mav was bouncing off the walls about it. Mav was asking what his name was and Bradley went, "Oh He's named after my dad," without thinking about it
• Mav goes "So his name is Nick?" Making Bradley really embarrassed about it and everything so he just nods his head and goes, "Yep...Nick, his name is Nick" So that's what Mav referred to Mitchell as "Nick" for months on end and Bradley just went along with it nodding his head along
• Finally Mav got to meet Nick and he goes, "You're the Nick I've been hearing about right?" and 'Nick' says confusion "Nick is my middle name actually"
• This confuses Mav and he asks, "I thought you were named after your Grandpa?"
• 'Nick' nod and says, "Yeah I am, my name is Mitchell"
• This makes Mav sit there and wonder who in Bradley's family is named Mitchell, then it hits him...his last name is Mitchell
• When Mav went home that night he cried knowing that Bradley's son was named after him and Bradley also saw him as a dad as well
• Bonus If Iceman is still alive: Mav is sobbing into Ice's should saying, "baby Goose doesn't hate me!" and Ice is just patting his shoulder like, "It's alright"
Iceman: *yelling* You haven't listened to a single word I've said, have you?!
Maverick: *whispering to Rooster* What a weird way to start a conversation...
Rooster: *facepalms*
(x)
*Hangman and Rooster rushing into Maverick’s office to tell on each other like little kids*
Rooster: Mav! Hangman called me a jackass!
Hangman: Well, Rooster called me an arrogant bastard!
Maverick, completely unbothered and indifferent: Sounds like you’re both onto something.
Mav and Bradley doing those model airplane kits together before they fall out. They left one unfinished. Pete can't even consider doing the rest on his own. It only gets finished after the Uranium mission.
Ice and mav , have these moments where they realize how different they were raised .
But the biggest moment they understood it . Was when they were taking care of bradley and he had taken mavs bike with anyone knowing to show his friends that he could ride a motorcycle.
And he tried to do a trick or something and crashed it, thankfully he didn't get severely hurt just some bruises on his ribs . But still went to the hospital to make sure .
Both came running at the hospital to see if he was okay mav was shaken up ( cue memory of gooses death ).
Mav couldn't stop fussing over him from the hospital all the way home . When they did get home and mav was still fussing over bradley and asking him if he needed anything, ice told Bradley that he was grounded for a month and he is no longer allowed to ride the motorcycle or drive a car until he learned responsibility.
Later that night , mav told him that maybe he shouldn't have grounded him for a month because everything told out fine in the end , beter than fine bradley was safe and sound at home and he didn't get hurt other than a couple of bruises and what if he's sad now and ice responded with something among the lines of actions have consequences , and that he would rather have him be sad than dead because he didn't think before doing something.
And them realizing that they see this differently because while ice was raised in militant family he never doubted their love for him and how much they care for him . He always new that they would take care of him , and that also means grounding him when he did something irresponsible.
While maverick, who grew up in the foster system didn't really have someone to show him responsibility and take care of him he had to learn how to take care of himself. There wasn't anyone to catch him when he fell . The only thing he had was himself and that's why he didn't even think to ground bradley . Because he wanted bradley to know that they would always be there for him .
I had one more idea for a sereshaw fanfic (+icemav) that I won't write, but more focused on rooster and icemav
Like I know Maverick pulling rooster's papers delayed him for 4 years but let's ignore that and pretend he was at the academy with hangman, phoenix and some others from the squad
What if at a party rooster ended up drinking too much, because it's his mother's death anniversary, and ended up crying and asking for his parents, saying that he misses them and just wanted to see them, that he needed to hug them and say he's sorry, that he just really need them right now
Which left everyone not knowing what to do. Because they only know that rooster's father and mother passed away, and they have no idea about his relationship with Ice and Maverick since Bradley "The next time I open up to someone will be at my autopsy" Bradshaw wasn't one to share his life with anyone
So when rooster says he's going to call his parents to say that he misses them, Jake "If I have a crush on you I'll be an idiot with you" Seresin asks rooster how he's going to call heaven and he doesn't think there's a signal there.
While everyone thinks rooster was referring to goose and carole, he was actually referring to mav and ice, so when hangman implies that rooster was going to call someone dead, he get desperate thinking something happened to ice and mav, since he's too drunk to realize that his friends didn't even know about them
So rooster decides to go over to their house to see if they are ok or if something has happened, and starts saying "I need to go to them, to see if they are ok, I need to see them" and nobody understands nothing but go after rooster. And when they see he intends to drive who knows where, Hangman offers to give him a ride, and phoenix, coyote, and payback go with them, being worried.
So while hangman was driving, with rooster giving directions, everyone thought they were going to the cemetery, but to everyone's surprise, they ended up in front of a nice house
But the surprise they got when they saw the house paled in comparison when they saw who opened the door. This being Admiral Kazanski, along with Captain Mitchell (I know that with the exception of rooster, they only know Maverick when they are called to the mission, but let's pretend they recognized him), who were as confused as they were, until they saw a rooster crying among those people.
As soon as Ice and Mac saw their son crying, all the confusion on their faces turned to concern, but they didn't have time to ask what happened, as rooster were so relieved that they were okay that he didn't hold back and threw himself into their arms, hugging them, while repeating how much he misses them and how happy he is that his parents are okay.
But as much as Ice and Mav were happy that their son was talking to them, and was hugging them, after years of ignoring them, they still needed to know what had happened to cause this, which led to a drunk rooster trying to explain by saying "I just wanted my dad and pops, I missed you guys so much, but Jake said you guys died, I should have known it was a lie, he talked about calling heaven, but we all know mav won't go to heaven", which made Mav and Ice understand at least half of the situation, even more because they were aware of how difficult this day was for rooster.
So a worried Mav and Ice started trying to calm their son down, saying that they are fine and will always be there for Rooster and they love him very much, and that there is nothing to worry about... while a confused coyote, phoenix, payback and hangman watched the scene unfold, not knowing how to act or what to think. If they told their colleagues how gentle Admiral Kazanski's voice can be, they were sure no one would believe in them.
But at the end of the night, after rooster ended up falling asleep, Ice and Mav helped lighten things up a bit for them, without much detail, just saying that they adopted rooster after the death of his biological parents.
And Hangman got back to his car with two certainties that night. The first was that rooster loved his parents very much, and they loved him back very much too, and they were going to fix their relationship, regardless of what happened between them.
The second certainty was that he didn't have a crush on rooster, he was completely in love. After seeing him heartbroken that night, all hangman wanted to do was comfort him, hold him in his arms, and protect him from all pain, and he felt so helpless for not being able to do that. but he was relieved to think that at least rooster was now with his parents.
And as he drove to his house, he realized something else... That Admiral Kazanski, the intimidating and legendary Admiral who seemed to be very protective of his son, and whom he greatly admired, was going to be his father in law (because he had a whole plan in his head already of how he would win rooster's heart with the help of coyote)
What Seresin didn't know, is that Maverick should be the one to he be worried about.
Just working on some of my wips tonight, here are some snippets:
never gonna hold the name (of another guy) [justified; tim/raylan]
The music is so loud he barley hears Winona say like a confession, “You know I really liked you then.”
“What?” Raylan hollers back at her, feigning like he didn’t catch her words. He’s half drunk and wonders if she is too, confessing old wants and desires like it means something right now.
Winona rolls his eyes. She’s close enough that she knows he heard her. “I said, that I really liked you back then,” she repeats with exaggerated patience. Then for further clarification, “Sophomore year.”
“Really,” Raylan intones back, not that interested in reliving this part of his past. They had had a thing then, a thing that he’d thought they’d left behind. He likes Winona, always has, her pretty smile and blonde hair and big blue eyes, sharp mind and body. But there’s a small problem. He likes Winona. But he’s been in love with Tim for quite sometime. And now, it might finally be in his grasp.

heaven knows [star wars; codywan]
The silence is deafening. For a hysterical second, he wishes for a cigarette even though he’s never smoked a day in his life. It’s what people do, in times like these he thinks. At least to have something to do with their hands and so they don’t have to say anything at all. Plausible deniability.
“I didn’t know Fives’ name,” he blurts out. “His given name,” he corrects when he sees Cody’s baffled look. He wasn’t even aware that it was something he was hung up on, until he said it out loud. Strange to not know a student’s full name. It has just said Fives Fett on everything.
Understanding and maybe even a bit of pity dawns over Cody’s face and Obi-Wan immediately hates it. The pity. He always has.

birds of a feather (flock together) [top gun; icemav]
He hits the answer button with shaking fingers, trying like hell to not drop it. It takes a second or two to raise it to his ear, and it's like white noise in his head.
"Mitchell," he says automatically, trying to push the shakiness from his voice. Act natural, Ice says in his head, just be cool.
"Hello?" a unfamiliar voice says back. A female voice. Ice water rushes in the side of his stomach, a rock of disappointment hitting the pit.
