It had been too long since the last time he had been in King’s Landing - his time had been taken up with Lannister affairs back home, keeping him locked in at Casterly Rock with nothing but ravens to report the goings on of his family to the east. He longed to visit his sister, to track down his brother at whichever brothel he had fallen into that particular day, but that would have to wait. He knew better than to ignore a direct summons from his father.
So it was that he found himself seeking out the Hand of the King, his lord father, in the Tower of the Hand. Once, he had thought of swearing into the Kingsguard so that he might remain in King’s Landing with Cersei - Tywin had seen to it that he had not, and in truth though he missed her company Jaime couldn’t help but wonder if Tywin had done him a service in doing so. He hesitated at the door, before he lifted a hand to knock.
