Cagamosis
Cagamosis - An unhappy marriage. AU in which Daehyun & Chohee are married with a child
Their second encounter happened a year after - she’d accidentally spilled coffee on him, and well, they’d exchanged numbers so she could pay for his ruined shirt. Chohee couldn’t quite remember when they started dating, but no sooner, he’d dropped onto one knee and proposed. Young - caught in the flames of love, Chohee agreed, and the two had eloped. She should’ve known, she should’ve known it wouldn’t work out.
By the second year into their marriage, the two were already living in separate apartments. He was always working and out socializing. Work. That’s what he said. Just work. But Chohee could tell that it wasn’t just work that kept him out so late. It was the tons of young girls running after him, the smiles and flashes women gave him as he walked into the room - just why had she married such a young man? The lipstick stains that adorned his collar were ‘accidents’. The nights spent crying alone grew, the wail of the baby the only thing keeping her at bay - keeping her from walking out.
Like that, Chohee had gone on for 6 years, and she only felt the gap widen. She was 30. Growing older, no longer the young, bustling girl she used to be. Yet he was in his prime. Mature, handsome, wanted. Chohee had to give him credit though. She saw his efforts - saw that he was trying. It was on those few occasions, when he’d come home early, their daughter lying in her bed fast asleep, and they’d sit in silence. “I missed you…” He’d mutter softly, before silence, a comforting silence, befell the two. Out on the porch, the stars watching below as he simply held her. No words were exchanged, no words needed to be exchanged. The soft caress of his hand, his presence, had been enough.
Then there was the bad days. The arguments, the distrust - it was those moments that scared Chohee the most. She could no longer recognize herself. Standing in the crowd, ushering her daughter into the hands of her dance teacher, a frown came over Chohee’s face. Daehyun was still no where to be seen. It was their daughter’s first dance recital, he’d promised to be here. But then, there’d been so many broken promises, so many she’d lost count.
The seat beside her felt empty. Her heart felt cold. That’s when he’d appeared; the charming single-father. The man who’d recaptured her heart, gave her life a new meeting, btu broke her at the same time. He’d filled the emptiness Daehyun left, and with him she’d crossed the boundaries of infidelity. She’d sinned, yet it’d felt so good. It was almost an act of defiance. It was an escape from her reality. But one could only live in an illusion for so long - the secret became too big to contain.
Staring into the mirror, strange eyes stared back at her. Fear gripped her heart, guilt racked her soul. Drowning her sorrows in alcohol, Chohee sauntered home. The nanny seemed shocked, but Chohee waved it off. “No worries, I’m quite fine.” She mumbled, before pushing open the doors to her bedroom - Daehyun. His appearance surprised her. She glanced at the clock - it was still quite early. Confusion clouded her eyes as he looked up, hands unbuttoning the white dress shirt to change into a more comfortable attire.
"You….You’re home….i-its so ewarly." Dumbfounded. Chohee shut the door silently, wondering if it were a dream. In her drunken state, she failed to notice the dimness of the room, the thousand candles that brightened the room. She could only see him. His smile was so sweet, so comforting, so different from that man’s. Long strides closed in the distance as Daehyun’s arms wrapped around her, a small box appearing in her vision, a bouquet laid on the table, rose petals fluttering on the bed.
"Happy Anniversary." He mumbled softly, head tilted downwards to meet hers as familiar lips gently touched hers. She felt her body give in, melt into him as she closed her eyes. There was a certain desperation in her kiss, a hunger - guilt. Yet she ignored it, revelling in his touch. Then she saw the mirror. From the corner of her eyes, she saw him, that man. As he came in for another kiss, she turned away abruptly, leaning away from him. Taking a seat on the bed, she felt herself crumble.
"I- I…" she began, tears welling up in her eyes.
”I can’t do this anymore. “
