Fredas, 15th of Frostfall, Year 1
Middas, 2nd of Sun's Dawn, Year 2
Perhaps it was too keen, her interest, too obvious in the set of her shoulders or eager tone of her voice. There was certainly something in the way Corrigan and Avraeh glanced at her during their discussions over the pending day of marriages. But Daella could not help herself. It was so refreshing to be amongst strangers who knew nothing of her background, her breeding… that her very existence was yet another failed attempt to mend a blood feud.
Loredas, 14th of Sun's Dawn, Year 2
In Misty Keep, there is anxious hope as their new members approach to join their ranks, including their future king consort. Hopefully it will lessen the sting of losing some of their own.
Gwein Ramsin x Daella Bracken Daella: He's very handsome, and I understand his attachment to Elspet and Valant will never be broken. Avraeh: Elspet wants Valant, and Gwein's a charming enough man with military training. She knows she can't keep them both. Corrigan: Seems a fine enough match, avoids any complications with Elspet seeing him paired off.
Aelyx Baratheon x Miere Trakand Daella: Aelyx might not be a firstborn son, but he's still a highborn noble. The highest on offer. Avraeh: They're both house-proud, but politically savvy enough to find a compromise. Corrigan: Two fools that belong together, and it'll keep two queens under one roof. Balance things out.
Dram Coplin x Vaella Targaryen Daella: You said he would have been a king had he not chosen to be a warder, I believe he's the only one suited to Vaella's station. Avraeh: He was meant to rule, and between him and I we both know we'd be miserable as a couple. Corrigan: The man seems level-headed enough, he'll be able to handle all the social maneuvering happening in that keep.
Kesh Shadehand x Daenaera Allyrion Daella: Daenaera volunteered to wed anyone so long as she could stay in the keep, even someone that's… different. Avraeh: He seems like he won't mind being uprooted and can handle being 'different' as you call it. Corrigan: Kesh knows how to keep people entertained and he's very curious about learning more about the different cultures.
Wulfgar the Curse-Bringer x Elain Noon Daella: Clearly they're smitten. Avraeh: In our world Elain would have already bonded him. Corrigan: If she'll have him he'd never say no. And it'll be good for both of them to be in the Keep.
Middas, 2nd of Sun's Dawn, Year 2
Daella couldn't help but feel so inspired by it all. Eventually she found herself staying up late into the evening, writing down all she'd learned that day. Not so much a journal but more of an accounting she supposed. A collection of knowledge, filtered through the lens of her own world.
Middas, 2nd of Sun's Dawn, Year 2
Aside from the novelty of being a mystery, there was the veritable flood of information those conversations left her with. It was fascinating! Women wielding magic just as easily as they might a shovel, dragons swooping down like monsters in the night, terrifying small children. Who could have believed such things? Yet wasn't her own world as equally unbelievable to them?
What do you mean, these Targaryen folks were supposed to be dragonriders?
Wait, so bodies just… came back? But like.. how? Why?
You can't be serious, no wall could be that big!
It was a bit of magic all on it's own, learning about worlds she had never seen.
Middas, 2nd of Sun's Dawn, Year 2
She returned back to the castle as slowly as she was able, often dallying in the two villages and just enjoying being, well, normal. Just a woman on a walk. A stranger in a land of strangeness. Sometimes she'd strike up a conversation with locals, some known to her through the match negotiations and others completely unknown.
Fall, Year 1
It has been decided. The Day of Marriages will take place in the spring.
Moiruan has chosen the name Har Cuebiyar, which roughly translates to 'my heart in hand' - personally she thinks that's far too romanticized - and in theory celebrates their purpose. Yeah, sure, and a badger in the brambles just wants a cuddle.
Avraeh from their village will be part of a group of three arranging the matches. The others are someone named Daella from the fancy castle and Corrigan from the other village. Paloma just hopes they make the right decisions.
Especially for her.
If she ends up tied to that damned Aelyx she's more likely to strangle him in their bridalbed than she is to kiss him. Insufferable fool.
The volunteers are being kept under wraps for now to preserve the integrity of the arrangements she supposes. She's been dying to ask Cinda if she put her name forward but she won't be called an oathbreaker. Surely she didn't, she seems to deeply resent every part of their new lives, thinking their week as kittens compared to her. But Aiel get lonely too, just the same as us so-called wetlanders.
Gently, Paloma lifts Nettle up, cooing at her a bit now that it's evening and there's no chance she'll be caught fussing over the friendly little tabby cat. She'd never live it down if they did.
Morndas, 25th of Evening Star, Year 1
Before the celebration ends, Meribald delightedly informs them all that Celaena has named their son: Cerlain Darkwood.
A boy first, surely a society like theirs is going to see that as a good sign, even if they're so contradictory sometimes. Patriarchal through and through, yet revering dragons who so far are only ridden by women. So strange. Naeva can't help but wonder how a firstborn boy amidst dragon-riding women will shape the people of Misty Keep.
