Internetdagarna
Yesterday and today I've been to Internetdagarna (Internet Days) at Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center. Here is how I experienced the conference, won't go into details just short summaries.
Day 1
Sadly I missed Lawrence Lessigs talk in the morning regarding The Future of Copyright, which people said were the best during the entire day.
I was in time for Jillian C. York's talk about censorship online though, since I didn't know what it would be about I had no expectations, but it was really good!
One interesting site she mentioned was this site which tracks suppression of online freedom of speech.
Open Data and the possibilities
Speakers: Andreas Krohn the API specialist from Dopter AB, Erik Borälv from Vinnova, Erik Lakomaa from Stockholm School of Economics and Jonas Lejon the entrepreneur from Triop.
In general everyone talked about why data should be open, the possibilities but also the problems that can occur. Where you can find open data today, and what has already been done with open data.
Timeline for Vinnovas project Öppna Data
Erik Borälv talked about Vinnovas project "Öppna Data" (Open Data) that focuses on innovation and opening up data. They are working hard on this project and will try to launch around christmas. Hopefully our program can partner up with Öppna Data in some way, but we'll see about that. You can read more about it here(in swedish).
Andreas Krohn talked about the technical part when it comes to open data. I don't remember too much of this but I got some of the helpful API tools down which he recommended, here is a little list: Azure, 3scale, apigee, mashery and apigrove(free).

Myten Om Internet
Speakers: Per Strömbäck Netopia, Pelle Snickars Royal library, Marcin de Kaminski Lunds University, Daniel Westman Juristic Institute.
I went to a talk/debate about the book "Myten Om Internet"(The Myth About Internet)
If I knew ahead that this was about a book, I would not have gone, since 30-40 minutes of this was just the writers praising themselves, marketing the book and so on. The debate was entertaining with some good points here and there.
Then it was mingle time. Beer, wine and a lot of interesting discussions.

Day 2
The day started with a keynote session where Karin Ahl talked about FTTH/B (Fiber To The Home/Business). A good lecture about what problems fibernet can resolve but also the problems that can arise. Looking at the past, present and the future for fibernet. "Most potential countries for fiber growth is Spain and Turkey. Russia as well, but it's a tough one.".
Here we can see their FTTH Forecast. Where the red starts is 2012 and it ends at 2016, quite an increase in 3 years.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After that Jan Gulliksen, professor in Human Computer interaction at KTH – the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden entered the stage. His keynote went through how the technology has changed in our workspaces especially in healthcare.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then Peter Ekelund from HBO Nordic had a keynote about how they plan to work in Sweden, I didn't care too much for this so not much to say.

Strategies to increase the participation online
Speakers: Jan Gulliksen Digital Commission etc, Cecilia Bredenwall E-delegation, Peter Krantz Användningsforum, Lennart Jonasson Ce Sam, SKL, Christer Marking Digidel, Christine Cars-Ingels Digidel 2013, .SE
Who is responsible for increasing participation online, thoughs and strategies to increase participation online. Mostly for the elders and the young. Reaching out to people who want to access the internet but don't have the technical skills to do it or are afraid of the internet. These were some of the topics that were discussed.
I though that there was a lot of points on what was needed. But not how. Of course that is the hard one to tackle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Swedish Startup Mafia
Speakers: Andreas Ehn Wrapp, Mattias Miksche Stardoll, Jin Moen Movinto Fun, Annika Lidne, Disruptive Media, Dramatify, Joakim Jardenberg Mindpark.
Basically a discussion on entrepreneurs, the market, technology, economics in the past, present and future. Focused on Sweden but also abroad. Very good and interesting to listen to.

Overall I was pleased with Internet Dagarna. I had very high expectations getting there, all were not met but most of them. Also a big thank you to Hyper Island for letting me participate.
