I met Jess in 2016 at my first @writespeakcode conference. We had a small exchange about the experience and went our separate ways. In 2017, the WSC family asked me back for my second experience and this time, I got to share an @airbnb , random @uber jokes and spent the next three days just looking out for each other. We just clicked. A few weeks later, we met up to discuss her small elopement with her amazing fiancé, John. Why am I sharing this story? Aside from the fact that I can 🤷🏾♀️😂 - it’s my insta - I’m sharing this to encourage others that it’s okay to open up. Opening up myself to volunteer for an organization whose mission is to increase the visibility and leadership of women and non-binary coders through thought leadership, personal growth, self-care, and open source contributions created an opportunity to not only work with beautiful individuals, but later on helped me landed one of my biggest clients to date. Will I be back at @writespeakcode this year? Hell yes! I love the organizers... the entire experience. What’s a quick nugget you can share with other creatives? Drop a note below. ❤️ #dagimages #nycelopement #nycelopementphotographer
