“ shut up don’t talk to me. ” ryou is mad - worse than that he is pissed. actually, no, aomine can hear why he’s mad, he’s going to tell him. he’s changed his mind. he’s twisting around on his feet , and glaring up at the other. “ you got mad at me when i dipped out of a game that led to a fight and then disappeared. ” he’s talking about the fight between touou and kiriidaii, “ but then you don’t even bother showing up for an important game. at least with kiriidaii there was a reason i didn’t play. you just didn’t feel like showing up. ” / @daichansux

it's not like it's rare to hear from tatsuya, they talk a lot even still, but a phone call from him out of the blue like this? and with no pleasantries too! daiki had been halfway through 'hello' ( in japanese ) before getting interrupted. once reclining in an uncomfortable sofa, he jolts up with eyes wide. he's grinning for the gossip of it all.

"you what?" he's interrupted, or he trails off to listen to the explanation. either way, daiki is now thinking of nothing else. sabs is working on her laptop on the other side of the couch and looks over with curiosity. she can't speak japanese, so he'll just have to fill her in later.

drama is all very fun and cool, but he realises that actually it might not be fun and cool for everyone, and his brow furrows. he starts to worry. "wait-- is taiga okay? what did xavier do? like i give a shit if he hates any of us, anyway. focus on the important details."

“ taiga is fine, ” tatsuya says in response to the question. he leans back , stares at the setting sun. he’s thinking of that day. “ shuu called me you know. he was blocked and worried he had done something to piss off taiga - the idea of it. ” his eyes roll. daiki knows just how rare it is for shuuzou to be the one to reach out to tatsuya too, so tatsuya understands -- believes , that daiki will pick up on that.  “ so i popped up. found out that shuu was blocked. forced xavier to admit to it and that was a whole thing. taiga’s probably a little pissed at me because of me choking him with his own tie but , ” a shoulder lifts, drops. then he realises that aomine can’t actually see him.  “ he deserved it. he really said that ‘see, taiga isn’t mad so he can have his phone back.’”

nijimura shifts as his attention moves from the court to aomine. “ i did. ” he replies softly , as they go back to watching the game -- kagami is playing someone and even if kagami is his best friend, aomine will not lose his place in nijimura’s life. aomine changes the channel and nijimura huffs out a puff of air. so dramatic , just as bad as when they were kids.  “ you did a lot , became a lot , overcame a lot. ” nijimura is never going to fault aomine for his growth spurt into the game ; but still part of him is bitter how quick he was tossed to the side once aomine started doing nothing but winning. that’s something he’s had years to work on and think through. it was never aomine’s fault to begin with.  he shifts , brings beer up to his lips as fingers tap against the glass. “ i can’t say that you’re brave, when you’re being a coward though. you’re actively avoiding him --- ” nijimura, really, has no room to talk considering that he and tatsuya are actively both avoiding each other. “ you’re going so far to not show up to press conferences that you know he’ll be at and you need to get over it. ” a hand comes up to flick fingers against forehead much like he did back when they were in middle school.  “ stop being stupid and start being brave again. ”

when he came to america to follow aomine’s dreams, ( it’s always aomine’s dreams. ) he didn’t expect he’d be the one going to the parties with aomine. he’s never been big on crowds, or drinking ( that much ) and somehow what parties he did go to, always tended to make him somewhat uncomfortable. him, huddled into a corner, sipping on his drink, wide-eyes watching aomine, ( the star of the show -- if basketball could be considered a show ) with the gut feeling of he’s not good enough. aomine fits into the world, he looks right at place in it too. sakurai, well he’s just luggage, an add-on for aomine. he blinks, fingers tightening around the pen that he’s holding and he hasn’t really gotten that much drawing in lately, ( which, he expected too ) and lets out a breath of air. “aomine-kun, are you sure you want me there, i don’t really fit in with the other’s you know.”

now see, shuu is a big brother - he might not be the best big brother or even a wanted big brother ( suzume, somewhere screams in frustration ) but he is still a big brother. so automatically, his first response mentally is ‘what the hell who am i killing’ while his brain catchs onto the fact that taiga is also doing it. now, that sounds like aomine kinda did something huh ! “ what’d you do for them to gang up on you ? ”
