Gaara had never been big on emotions. Or well, that’s not actually true, is it? Gaara has always been big on emotions. Just never in the typical sense. Gaara was always guided by emotions, even when he supposedly shut them all down inside of him. Even then, he was spurred on with such anger and hatred. So Gaara really had always been full of emotion. And even as that goof in the hidden leaf had taught him something about compassion and friendship, he never could have taught Gaara, what you had. Because what you taught him was love. A different kind of love, than what he could feel towards his siblings, or even a friend. You taught him love.
He never would have expected for this to happen back in his younger years, but yet he was sitting here, underneath the stars of the Hidden Sand with you. In your hands, you held one of his, tracing patterns across his skin and playing with his fingers. It was a beautiful night. And as he looked at you, the moonlight showered you in a beautiful light that painted you even more beautiful than he ever thought possible. That’s when he knew. He knew that he would do anything for you. And even as someone who usually held his composure and didn’t speak out of turn, at this moment the words came before he could even begin to think them through.
“You know I’d do anything for you, right?” You’d looked at him in surprise then, but your fingers never seized their movements.
“I do.”
“No but–” Gaara had averted your gaze then, suddenly feeling ashamed by the intimacy of his confession. Be Gaara wasn’t one to back down or to give him. So he steeled himself and looked back into your eyes. “I don’t think you understand. I would move mountains for you. You know I would be able to. I would rip the entire world apart for you.”
“Gaara,” you voice was soft and the kazekage had never heard a sweeter sound. Maybe only rivaled by your laugh.
“What do you want?” He asked you, intense but so full of passion. “You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll send the sand up and pull it down!” You’d kissed him then. Soft. Sweet. And over way too soon for Gaara’s liking. And then you giggled and shook your head at him. You knew exactly what his words meant, but you didn’t need any of that, as long as you had him. So instead, you replied to the unspoken confession behind his words.
