BOOK COMMUNITY ANSWERS pt.3

From all the students that I've observed, those who read are mostly girls. These girls speak english fluently and they have a special connection to the characters in their book😊. I think they read more English books because they love the storyline, characters and the writer's writing style. They haven't explored the Indonesian section of literary because they've barely finished the remaining English books they want to read (TBR). Also they're very active in social media and international people often talk about English books and from there, they make new friends.

BOOK COMMUNITY ANSWERS pt.2

In my opinion a lot of Indonesian Literature uses proper bahasa, rather than English books which are more laid back. Besides that I also think that some Indonesian Literature is easy to guess. I can easily guess the plot of the book by just reading a couple of pages of the book. I also find that most Indonesian Literatures are about romance, the classic love triangle or the long distance relationship kind. There’s not that many fantasy/dystopian, action type of books.

There have been a recent trend in Hollywood which is Book to Movie Adaptations. The current trend has been done before, but now directors are doing adaptations on more teenage friendly books such as, Divergent or The 5th Wave. This creates the trend of reading the books before the movies so that people can claim that they are "original fans". In my opinion this is a positive trend and it's something the movie industry indirectly supports and creates. Reading itself, fiction or non fiction is beneficial overall.

Because in books there is two languages that contains lots of categories like history and knowledge books. So in books more english books than bahasa books.

I think it’s because in English there is no “Bahasa Baku” or whatever the kids these days say. I feel like it’s harder because when most of us speak in Bahasa we don’t say “Aku tidak suka itu” or somewhere along the lines. However, English isn’t really split up into two parts or doesn’t have a second form.

I think because it’s more easier to understand. When I read English literature, I really feel what the character is going through more, rather than Indonesian Literature. It also helps me increase my English skills, I learn a lot of new words. I also love the English Literature plot better than Indonesian Literatures.
