The 王 kanji is a little difficult to think of a mnemonic for so every time you stumble across this kanji just think "Oh King". Do you think this adoringly? Despairingly? Angrily? Maybe try out different inflections to help you better recall.

The mnemonic for 火 is fairly short; just imagine your car on fire. Really picture it. Like "holy shit my car is on fire!!!!!" Just like that.

For 水 imagine its the summer time and you're near the lake. What's an essential part of your teen fantasy summer lakeside visit? A tire swing obviously. Imagine swinging and swinging on that tire swing before you let go and fly into the water. You manage a huge belly flop. Water is everywhere.

When thinking of the 木 kanji, imagine you're in a forest. The trees there are mocking you. Trees are always mocking you. You hate forests. Why are you in a forest again?

To help you think of the 月 kanji, imagine the moon. In the evening when the moon rises everyone goes to bed, and when the moon falls in the morning everyone gets up.

To help you remember the 日 kanji remember this little story: Friedrich Nietzsche was a famous philosopher; he philosophized one too many things about the sun so the sun decided he had to pay. On that day Friedrich Nietzsche received a grim reminder that he was at the suns mercy. He god a terrible sun burn.

To help yourself remember the 文 kanji imagine a little doll. It's evil of course. It runs around writing the most awful little notes; sometimes it even uses its writing to make ridiculous demands like asking for you to bake it sweet buns (do dolls even eat buns??!) and to stop calling it a monster, even though it so obviously is.
