Summers in London did not have the same sunshine as in Japan, a constant cloud from the factory smoke and heavy weather accompanying the prosecutor's steps in the street puddles. Long days of work of incessant back and forth between bureaucratic buildings had his eyes glaze over from the constant paperwork. Although it had been at least two months since the chief of justice arrest, he still hadn't been back in court from all the commotion in reinstating his mentor's, and in turn his, license. However, it did not stop Kazuma from snooping into police cases, and it is when he started to do a few patrols with (Apprentice) Inspector Gina Lestrade. Although he remembered what he did as the Masked Apprentice, not having amnesia and vengeance clouding his senses helped him learn another side of London better, and it looked like the young girl was eager to introduce Naruhodo's friend to the locals. "Fish and chips?" The samurai inquired, looking at the Gina walking by his side. "Don't think I ever had any. I only ate what Prosecutor Van Zieks gave me, and I get that his taste are not… common, to say the least." He reached for the english cap atop of his head as he spoke, clearing his throat. "Is that the fried mush Inspector Gregson always had in his hand, wrapped in newspaper? I always wondered how he managed to still carry any on the ship… did he stock up on them in his coat?"
Two months... it felt like an eternity, and yet the wounds were still raw. She'd learned the truth about the reaper, about the whole bloody system being corrupt, the target on her back, and the price Gregson had paid to ensure she was still breathing today. Many in Scotland yard had mixed feelings about Gina staying on as an (apprentice) Inspector, she had mixed feelings about it too. Gregson's reputation had been tainted among the force, and that extended to Miss Lestrade, who already had a poor reputation as a former street-rat.
This place, was one of her favorite haunts, but admittedly she hadn't come back here since the trial. "This was the Boss' favorite pub, 'best Fish n' chips' in London 'e use t' say." A small smile curled at her lips, remembering how Gregson always seemed to have the greasy food on hand wherever he went... even to his grave.
She remembered even trying to steal it from him on occasion, he'd get real cross with her. Toby would sometimes snatch the fries that fell from the wrapper. Given Kazuma's describing the fried food as 'mush', she could only assume it wasn't to his tastes. Gina didn't know much about Japanese cuisine, outside of what she'd learned from Ryunosuke and Susato, she remembered Susato mentioning a dish called 'soo-shee', apparently it was raw fish rolled in rice and sea-weed? Sounded strange to the former-diver, she imagined it was just as much the same feeling for Kazuma wondering about fish n' chips.
Gina tries to force the smile to stay, looking at the pub and back to the Prosecutor. She honestly felt this look was better for him than the flashy white coat and mask he wore before. "Well, it's about lunch time, an' I've got some money left from my last pay, 'ow about I treat you to some of London's best... course if it's too much for ya, I'm sure Toby would love to share."
