Because Daisy and Robin are a queer couple. I feel like they would try to be more subtle, Robin wearing a necklace with a daisy and Daisy wearing one with a robin 🥺💕

Prompt | "Flowers and a candlelit dinner?! Have I swallowed a romance novel? Did you?

Content Warning | Fluffy, Indie writing past 11 PM

Robin had spent weeks planning this out and she was not going to let anything ruin this. She wanted to have a romantic dinner with her girlfriend and that was going to happen. Steve has tried to help her the best he can with preparing how to cook this dinner. The thing is, learning how to cook a meal for your girlfriend when cooking wasn’t your strong suit in the span of a week, wasn’t ideal.

“I’m hopeless.” Robin cries as she lets the sheet pan of  burnt chicken breast and vegetables on the stovetop.

“It’s not that hard! Don’t overthink it!” Steve tried to assure her. “You could always just get a pizza or something.”

“No! Daisy has done so much and she deserves a cooked dinner rather than some ordered pizza.” Robin took a breath. “I want to do this for her. And it needs to be perfect for tomorrow!”

“Okay, but if you're going to do this tomorrow you need to use the timer.” Steve picked up the timer Robin had forgotten to set once again. “And get out of your head.”

Like that was easy to do, Harrington. Because the day of Valentines Day and Daisy was going to be here any minute. But once again the dinner came out burnt. Robin was so busy making sure the table was perfect she completely missed the timer. She felt close to tears on this failed day, she just wanted to do one thing, but it seemed nothing was going to be in her favor. It didn’t help when she heard the knock on the door. Daisy. Fuck.

Robin opened the door to the most beautiful girl, Daisy’s hair done up and wearing the most adorable dress, the red kissing her skin perfectly. Daisy had a giant smile on her face but it soon fell as she registered Robin’s upset face.

“Oh my God! Baby, are you okay?” Daisy stepped inside and cupped her girlfriends cheeks, wiping away the tear Robin hadn’t realized slipped.

Instead of trying to tell her with blubbering words, Robin just lead her to the table, not able to look at her girlfriend or the terrible attempt at cooking dinner she did. Daisy gasped and Robin could imagine the horror on her face.

The table with candles all over, glasses with drinks in ice to keep them cool, Daisy’s favorite flowers (lavender) and roses in a vase Robin’s mother helped her pick out with petals thrown around the table. And then the burnt dinner in the center of it all just ruining the whole thing. “I’m so sorry, I wanted to do something special and romantic for you cause you deserve it, and I love you so much, and Steve was trying to teach me this whole week on how to roast this chicken but it was either coming out too dry or just burnt cause I kept forgetting the timer! I’m so sorry, you deserve so much better than this sad excuse-”

“Flowers and a candlelit dinner? Have I swallowed a romance novel? Did you?” Daisy's voice was so much lighter and filled with joy that it shocked Robin enough to stop her rambling and stare at her girlfriend with watery eyes. Instead of disappointment there was a giant grin on her lips.

Daisy turned her gaze to her girlfriend and raised to stand on her toes to reach her cheek and wrap her arms around Robin’s frame. “It’s okay, my love.” Daisy tells her softly. “The gesture means so much more to me compared to some perfect dinner, you should see the cooking skills of either of my parents, this is a big improvement! I love it so much, it’s okay.”

A giant weight Robin had placed on herself lifted and she leaned her whole weight onto Daisy who held her tight, rocking them ever so softly. “But let’s order some pizza and enjoy this beautiful scenery.”

“Okay.” Robin rasped into Daisy’s hair. “I love you.”

“I love you, too.”
