PC Benjamin Monk alleged to have used Taser weapon on former Aston Villa player in Telford and kicked him in head in 2016
Christ Almighty. 33 seconds. “Monk is alleged to have fired a Taser weapon at Atkinson for 33 seconds, or more than six times longer than the standard five-second phase, and while he was on the ground and apparently unresponsive, kicked him in the head twice with such force the imprint of Monk’s laces were left on Atkinson’s forehead.”
Just a reminder that footballers taking the knee isn’t just a tribute to Kaepernick’s campaign in America or an empty tribute but also because former Aston Villa player, Dalian Atkinson was killed by police in 2016.
Two West Mercia officers had returned to limited duties after initially being suspended
Football players aren’t not just jumping on a bandwagon they don’t understand as many racists want you to believe. Neither are they copying Game of Thrones as UK Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab tried to say this morning in more jaw dropping ignorance by this govt.
Racism has been rising once more in football both abroad (most notable in Italy and when England played several East European nations) but also here at home where players have been subjected to racist abuse whilst playing across the domestic leagues. To try and say footballers don’t understand what they are taking part in is an attempt to discredit the UK Black Lives Matter movement and continue the idea that racism is an American issue that doesn’t affect Black communities here in the UK.
