It's New Year's Eve, Right? || Beck & Jesse
Welcoming in the New Year had never been much of a celebration for Beckett Hayward in the duration since his mother had passed. Granted, she was the one who had them spend time together, and do the countdown bullshit, but if it made her happy, Beck nor his father ever complained. It felt wrong to carry on the tradition without her, so since then, they refrained from any sort of participation. The boy had planned on going home and sleeping after his volunteer work. He'd come home late obviously, because his father would tend to get emotional around the holidays. Luckily for Beck, he hadn't even realized what day it was.
It didn't take long for the boy to rake up the leaves and endless amounts of cigarette buds from the grass in the backyard. He laughed at himself due to the fact that a good amount were from him - after all, he had one between his fingers at that very moment. For a few minutes, he'd sit on the gazebo steps, embracing as much of a break as he could. This would definitely be a long day.
