Im groaned, sun in her eyes as she walked along the side of the deserted road, gravel crunching underfoot while the duffle bag slung over her shoulder bumped along at her hip. It was hot, hotter than it had any right to be, and Im regretted the decision to head down to Arizona, her truck left in a steaming heap of useless metal thirteen miles back.
This was ridiculous. Months of hunting monsters, killing things with claws and teeth, and she was going to be killed by the freaking sun. She glared at a cactus as she passed it by, adjusting the bag on her shoulder and following the line of the asphalt stretching out before her.
