It was the start of the weekend and people were very much excited to get out of the castle and walk around Hogsmeade. It was the weekend before Valentine’s too which meant that lovers old and new will be going on their strolls around the village pretending as if it were some scenic destination. For Isaac however, that meant hand-delivering orders to those who wanted to get their hands on some love potions, (with one particular exception of someone ordering a hate potion). Many students tried to pass him the word that they wanted some but Isaac only accepted orders that were made a week in advance since he still had to post the list to his older cousin who sources the items for him. 

The potions arrived yesterday morning. Isaac woke up earlier than usual to head up to the Owlery just so he could collect them before breakfast. They came in disguised as perfumes or cough potions. The higher they paid, the more potent it was. 

That morning, Isaac lined the love potions on one of the tables in the relatively abandoned Slytherin Common Room. He was slipping a tag on the necks of the bottles containing the names of those he was supposed to give them to when he knocked one of the cough syrup bottles off the table. It rolled on the floor until it stopped at the foot of an older student.

“Mind passing that?” Isaac asked Damon as he stood up to collect the bottle.

With so many preparations to be made, Ruby often found herself alone when it came time for supper. It was nice, most of the time, to be away from the loud and belligerent men that plagued Robb Stark’s camp, but sometimes she felt lonely. She could have sought out Faye or Merida, or anyone, but this time she wanted to spend time with someone who had become a little distant lately. Gathering some food in a basket, she set out across the camp to where she knew the council would still be, having come from there earlier in the day. She felt lucky to be heard by her cousin, but his men often denied her time to speak. For the most part she wouldn’t let them get away with it but today had been particularly long and trying and she’d snuck out early.

Spotting Damon’s tent up ahead, she made her way towards it. For the longest time she had denied any sort of feelings for him. He was often mean, but not to her. And brash, but considerate of how she was feeling. Whenever she was around him, he seemed like the Damon he had been when they were growing up, making her believe the other Damon was the face he put up as Lord of Boreal. She’d seen it happen before. You had to have a strong hand in the North. Damon’s hands both looked strong and sometimes she longed to be held by them.

But she had no real status anymore. Her parents were gone, she had no castle. Nothing to offer Damon except the possibility of children.

“Damon?” she asked softly, poking her head inside of his tent. It was empty and she made her way inside, setting the basket down on a table and pouring herself some wine. She would go and seek him out in a moment, invite him to have something to eat and just talk like they used to. She could use it. All of this left her drained at times and Damon always made her feel better.

She loved him.

Klaus snooped around the hotel room with a vague and somewhat bored amusement. Ah, the Salvatore brothers. Always a fun bunch. It was a win-win for Klaus really, no matter what their mood. Stefan the Ripper was just a delight to be around. Perhaps Klaus’ most inspired work of art. But Klaus had no problem with vegan vampire Stefan, either. Taunting and torturing him was almost as fun as watching Stefan do the torturing himself. 

Damon Salvatore was a bit more stick in the mud than his brother, at least when Stefan was in his prime, but Klaus made a bit of a game out of it, playing with his prey. So here he was, scoping out the elder Salvatore’s homestead. Nothing too interesting as of yet. A few files, addresses circled, but the subjects had little in common it seemed. He extended his hearing to the rest of the building. Damon was... ah, currently in the lobby, making his way to his room. Delightful. 

The whiskey was top notch of course, the one thing he couldn’t fault Damon for. He poured himself a glass–a generous one, of course–and kicked his feet up on the desk, flipping through the files languidly. 

When the door opened, Klaus made no effort to move, merely grinned. “Damon Salvatore... fancy see you here. I would’ve thought nothing could shake you from Mystic Falls. But then again, with your brother’s girlfriend dead, I guess the appeal has lost its... joie de vivre? Or just vivre, no?”

about snacks and insomniacs ▪️damon & kimmy

Ao entrar no palácio pela primeira vez (após tropeçar na escadaria), Kimberly sentiu-se incrivelmente sufocada. Era tudo imenso e luxuoso, e ela se sentiu tão pequena perto de tudo. Uns com tanto, enquanto outros tinham tão pouco. A ideia de que tudo aquilo poderia fazer parte do resto da sua vida a deixava desconcertada. Nunca estivera em contato com tantas regalias, nem mesmo quando Adelaide era viva. Naquela noite, após horas de ensinamentos sobre o processo de seleção e preparação para conhecerem o príncipe logo, Kimberly deitou-se nos lençóis de duzentos fios que ela nunca havia experimentado, esperando refletir sobre como sua vida mudaria dali em diante. Porém, o cansaço venceu e seu corpo cedeu.

Sempre fora um hábito da jovem acordar cedo, mas ela não esperava que, as três horas da manhã, seu estômago trairia seu sono de tal forma a fazê-la acordar. Cansada, Kimmy bocejou e murmurou em reclamação. Não tinha nada que ela podia fazer se não ceder e navegar pelo palácio em busca da cozinha. Munida de seu casaco estampado com vaquinhas e pantufas cedidas pelo palácio (assim como a maioria das coisas que agora ela possuia), Kimmy saiu do seu quarto para procurar a cozinha.

Dois encontrões com armaduras, três curvas erradas e um guarda muito gentil depois, a moça estava na cozinha. Ela puxou o cabelo para cima e começou a vasculhar o aposento. Com a quantidade de comida no castelo, Kimberly tinha diversas opções, mas a saudades bateu mais forte. Pudim de pão com manteiga e canela. Kim logo lembrou da sobremesa que a mãe fazia com sobras. Para muitos, poderia ser estranho, mas não tinha alguém que experimentasse e não gostasse da famosa sobremesa Rogers. Quando finalmente a sobremesa ficou pronta, Kim pegou uma colher e afundou na tigela.
