I am working on a fanfic at the moment. My main OC is black and I have been trying to find a face claim for her to match what I perceive her to be. It's a Hobbit fanfic with Fili pairing, so I wanted to try and find a face claim from a historical tv show or movie. It has been HARD.
It's soooo frustrating that black people are not represented enough in historical-like roles, and if we are it's the side character or a fucking maid.
I don't care that it's "inaccurate" or "not what really happened" We deserve to see ourselves on the screen too. As queens, kings, rulers, princesses, and princes etc. We got a black Ariel and people threw a tantrum about Halle taking the role
If I can draw my oc I would. Believe me. But I am not an artist so I can't. It's more annoying that I imagine my oc as a dark skinned woman and there are little to no dark skinned women being represented either. The film industry needs to do better. So much better.
