Car-parker told us to ignore the rules?
This is just silly! Dan Dwywer (lawyer) parked in a tow-away parking spot to go to the video store for about 10 minutes. When he finished to his surprise his car was gone, towed away. He paid the $230 to released his car, but after a second thought he went to the dispute tribunal and the day before the hearing, the towies refunded him the $230 (I'm guessing to save the hassle of the hearing).
Now he basically told the journalist to ignore the rule and to do more of this "dispute tribunal" and you are most likely to get away from paying to release your car from the pound.
Don't get me wrong. I still think he got it pretty rough to get his car towed for just being away for 10 minutes! I reckon it was ridiculous. And I also believe $230 fine is pretty high considering the distance. So yes I am happy for him that he got the money back.
But the way the writer wrote it, it sounded like now he is saying don't pay the fine, its unreasonable, consider keep parking at those park as its ridiculous esp since the car park is empty and it was late at night.
Maybe I read too much into it, and he didn't mean it that way. But I still think good for him that he received the money back, but don't encourage the others to do park in those tow-away car park. IT IS private car park. The owener of the car park deserved their right if they don't want just anyone going and park in their spots no matter what time of the day it is.
