Ok so I’ve been reading up on people’s posts through the various social media platforms and am appalled at the negative smear attacks being made on Alyssa Naeher. These need to STOP and now. I know the First Amendment is established to allow for free speech, but to conduct negative social media smear attacks in unacceptable on so many levels. The people you SHOULD really be pouring it out on are Sunil Gulati, Dan Flynn, Gramae Abel, and Jill Ellis.
Reasons: All four parties are held accountable for just investing their FULL support on just ONE goalkeeper. We all know who that is. They’ve started her in minor international friendlies and minor tournament fixtures which took away valuable experience from the rest. They basically gave a BIG F YOU to Alyssa Naeher along with other reserve goalkeepers through the years. They never really gave the chance to Alyssa and the others to give them a chance to prove themselves by granting them valuable game time. Look at how other national team managers rotate goalkeepers through tournaments and friendlies. ALL of the goalkeepers get to improve and are READY when it matters the most! (I hope you’re hearing this Ellis and Abel! Learn from what other National Team managers are doing!) That’s how it should be. NOPE! The USSF is ONLY set out to allow players to make and break records with one sole person at a time. That practice is unfair on so many levels. Alyssa Naeher, and the new upcoming goalkeepers NEED the experience. ALL USWNT goalkeepers work their bodies beyond the breaking point, but only get slapped in the face by the coaching staff and USWNT management. That must make management’s hearts feel good to let very talented goalkeepers skills go to waste. Ellis and Abel don’t really care about their reserves one bit it seems like. Just my observations. ##END RANT##
