A noisy, ear-melting, metalish, noise rockish duo from Fargo, ND (later relocated to Olympia, WA). Started in 1991, by Mike Kunka and Dan Haugh. Often known for their sonic blasts of sound during live shows. Haugh actually attests to this in an interview stating, “At our last show in Seattle, during the final song, which is only Mike on bass for the first few minutes, I had to leave the stool and kneel behind Mike’s amps and dry heave until I had to go play again.” (Phoenix New Times) Both members are also lovers of BMX and Mountain Dew (as shown in the picture with the Melvins).

[The conservative response to the Chick-fil-A boycott] reminds me of Limbaugh once berating his listeners that they shouldn’t buy a Prius for any kind of ethical reason, “only if you really like the car better.” If you ‘enjoy’ how the Prius looks, or how it drives, then by all means buy one, but if you even begin to think that there is some greater good involved in having a more fuel efficient car, don’t you dare, because that is breaching some kind of hard-fast rule of capitalism, which will throw the whole system into disarray. Likewise, I get the sense that many of these conservatives think that it’s totally fine not to give Chik-fil-a money if you think their sandwiches suck. But if you choose not to give them money based on their ethics in the area of lgbt rights (or any other ethical question), you’ve broken a kind of ‘moral law’ of the market. It’s this stance that fascinates me (don’t mean to minimize the importance of gay marriage rights, though). The value of using my resources for what is ‘enjoyable for me’, and excluding consideration of how the resources are then used, actually rises to the level of ethical obligation. Capitalism doesn’t just mask the effects of production on oppressed people, creation, etc. It actually demands that we not care about those things in order to function.

Probably my all time favourite band 90s band, next to 90s Beck & Ween.  Drums & Bass Guitar, a wall of cabinets and songs about ghosts, bmxs and rainbows years before Lightning Bolt would become the go to band for such things, and made by two nerdy BMXing legends from Fargo, who moved down to Olympia to get amongst the magic.  

I was trawling through my favorite record store many many years ago and saw this little gem, opened it up and saw it has a 'fantasy' BMX track drawn in it, and just had to buy it.

20 years on and it's still the best record you could probably buy, alongside the rest of their short lived careers discography.  Skyward In Triumph & Share the Fantasy are also huge moments.  Get them all.  You can't deny dudes who make a press photo like this
