I came across this comment under a tiktok video, and felt like speaking my mind on it
For those who are unfamiliar, the video shows a clip of "The Creeper Rap" by Dan Bull. The lyrics go like this:
I'm a Creeper, Minecraft's Grim Reaper Blowing up blocks like Al-Qaeda
I'm not here to talk about if the lyrics are insensitive or not. But there's one thing that I could tell: IT RHYMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You see, there is something called “Non-rhoticity” in this song. Which means that the “R” sound falls. It is actually pretty common in certain dialects, such as AAVE, which heavily influences rap music.
Also, Dan Bull is British himself. Standart British English is mostly non-rhotic. Which causes both "Reaper" and "Al-Qaeda" to end with a "schwa" [ə]
