excerpt from a recent poem
like a grape stripped of its skin
with only the naked pulp left to meet the lips
it wishes to find a nonexistent sentience
and in desperation,
imaginary arms rashly claw for cover
the emaciated one feasts on the sinless tenderness; blood rushes to the brain with an all-encompassing warmth
on 26th of January, 2023.
strength is merely a facade
when my heart sits at the palm of your hand
willingly put there by me
fragile as it is,
it resists all your strikes
for a tinge of your warmth
one final blow and i break into pieces
my love, i sure do hope
that the shards continually pierce through
your callused skin
