     Words whispered about the overreaching shadow of revolt had given way to powerful hired help. Arjuna usually had the mind to keep to himself, but the resulting chaos of such injustice would’ve been too much to overlook. And while he’d been following the trail of one such perpetrator, a figure that abruptly overshadowed him stopped him in his tracks. Who? A shudder in the darkness.

     -- Arjuna pushed back the very moment he realized what his hands had grasped at without knowing, brow furrowed in the quiet of the alley. 

    “Karna.” He couldn’t look him directly in the eye. Not yet. Not this time. For if he did there would only be a recollection he sought to avoid, mind swimming strongly with things still left unspoken. His tone was proud even now, but notably frustrated and quiet. Words never made things right with them. “Are you trying to look like a target?”

There’s nothing he cares about as much and as little as dishonor, so it’s a crux of conflicting feelings and views. Everything he does is honorable because he is the king; he is to be honored above all… yet he considers himself dishonorable. His means can be evil and he wouldn’t deny it. He would openly admit to lacking honor in his affairs with nuisances, be it excused with necessity or not. He is disgraced before God for the abomination he’s become. 

It weights on his soul but all he can do is ignore it. Too late, too much blood, too much that cannot be forgiven - reasonably, he can’t say his vest is blank. But the concept of the Tzar is sacrosanct. You can’t insult Ivan without insulting what he stands for. So in the face of this selfawareness, the result is that despite considering himself dishonored and admitting to being a tyrant and all the atrocities he’s got to his name, he will gladly execute anyone who actively attempts to dishonor him on the spot.

All the while, he’s someone who doesn’t shun - or rather embraces - underhanded means to fulfill his ambitions. After all he’s beyond salvation already? He’s got nothing to lose. But if it came to someone else, his lawful evil alignment shows and he would understand the logical advantage, but condemn behavior that isn’t chivalrous as something to be punished.
