DanceBlue
A local community that I’ve, personally, been connected to is an organization called Dance Blue. I want to briefly explain what Dance Blue is about and their goal, they are an organization that raises awareness towards children diagnosed with cancer, they do this in a unique way by setting up charity events at certain areas where they’ll dance for hours on end to raise money towards cancer treatments and for the kids. I remember back in high school; it was senior year when I've found my group of friends, it was our last year and we wanted to do anything memorable and significant. Dance Blue events are present every year during high school in the Fayette county, so we all agreed to do it, we danced all night, and sweating buckets for that matter. But we managed to raise around ten thousand dollars for the charity, that night about more than half of our seniors, and an abundant number of underclassmen showed to support the cause. I made new friends, felt closer to my school more than ever, and overall it just felt so nice to be doing something that’s helping others in need. It was the first time I’ve ever done something so unique and for charity as well, and now I want to continue doing Dance Blue here at UK.
