Blog post 7
When I first started WRD I remember that we had to do daily blogs every week. At first, I thought to myself, like “how do I even blog?”. We kept getting prompts and I thought everything was objective, we had to solely talk about what the prompt tells us to talk about. I couldn’t even meet the minimum word count because of that, the I just told myself to write about whatever I want to say, be casual with it, because it’s a blog it isn’t like I’m writing a formal analysis. I started to have fun with blogs instead of thinking that it was just another thing that I had to write about. For my research process, I guess coming up with it was the difficult part. But doing these blogs and thinking critically on what I want to research, helped me with brainstorming for ideas. For instance, in blog post five, the prompt asked to talk about what we’ve been discussing in class. Things that we’ve gone over that could help out with the project, I thought was neat. The blogs help me reflect on things we go over in class, like what I and my group go over and how to do the video essays. I’ve actually gotten a few ideas from those videos. My project is about steroid abuse in sports, at first that’s what I wanted to solely focus on. But I didn’t want to be too specific in my topic, I wanted more variety, so I started talking about how it affects not just sports but student-athletes and athletes in general. Most of the work I’ve done this semester definitely isn’t the best, but they help me with connecting the lessons from it to the real world. For instance, a rhetorical analysis isn’t just something we write about but it’s a strategy that is used all the time in advertisements, art, etc. I can improve on my writing and presenting. My understanding of rhetoric has improved, as said before I don’t just use it for writing essays, but am now effectively seeing its usefulness in advertisements, and even in art.Â
