Report on Choreography Contest at Nico Nico Chokaigi 2015
Nico Nico Chokaigi 2015 was held on April 25th-26th at Makuhari Messe. It was the forth conference of Nico Nico cultures. There were a lot of things! I will report on Choreography Contest(振り付け選手権) for the present.
Choreography Contest was a contest concerned with Danced_it(Odottemita) category of Nico Nico Douga (Japanese version of YouTube). First, the audience on the net polled for dance videos with original choreography that they think good by checking the "quicklist" button on the site. The top ten groups qualified for performing at the Choreography Contest.
This contest was the third contest. Some of the dancers joining the contest were so popular in the Danced_it category, and some of them had also performed at the previous contests.
The winners of the last year were Apricot*, Ririri and Bouto. The rule to determine the winner of the last year was a little bit uncommon. The competitors competed the number of audience who danced together with the choreography when the competitor was dancing. This rule was announced at the contest day. The choreography of Apricot's team was easy, so they won unexpectedly.
This year, all dancers seemed to think that the rule will be also adapted in this year. So, many of them tried to make the choreography simple as it can be.
However, the rule of this year was different from the last year's one against our expectations! The rule to determine the winner was net voting!
Three groups won through to the finals. One of them was also Apricot's team. They danced to Hatsune Miku's song with the shortest title, "Ka"(it means mosquito). The choreography was very simple as it was almost anything but a dance. I think it had a harmful result for them.
The audience selected happy choreography to watch. Ashibuto Penta won the first prize with a song called "Bang Bang Boo."
