rough drafts for Lady Blackwood
Little comic update!!
sorry it's been so long!
It's been a hot minute, but I finally managed to make a few more pages I really want to work on their refs, I've got her's going (trying to retrain my brain to draw wolves) but I really wanted her paws to look more like hands when you looked at them close
anyway. Sir Blackwood recalling his first encounter with the shewolf
Two worlds apart. Her's is the forest, the fey, the wild and untamable wilderness, the dark. and his is the dagger and lantern that hunts it.
she's just protecting what is hers, and he's just doing his job. What happens next is what changes everything
little comic update (all sketch pages, but it was time to get something out)
there's some pacing stuff I'd like to work on. (like I think the werewolf teaser could probably be it's own page)
but! this is just so I can say I'm working on it. <3 If I focus too much on the little things right now I'll probably never get this done X'D
My werewolves work a lot like selkie (there's probably a version like this already, but I'm not sure what they're called other than werewolves/ lycanthropes.
Her transformation is entirely willing, and she can take the coat off whenever she pleases. The coat itself is a part of her, and she can't bare to be away from it for long.
I really want to ham up this dynamic they have. He's been hired to get rid of a problem 'wolf' (was not entirely made aware of the whole situation) and ended up hurting her before realizing what she was. He feels guilty, but is also painfully aware that she could in fact tear him to pieces if she wanted to. He's hoping he can trick her out of the coat so he can persuade her to leave of her own accord. She on the other hand would really like him to disappear, but her own morals keep her from hurting him. He'd spared her life after she'd attacked him after all, and has spent some time trying to mend her wounds. She hates his guts.
Just some pre production work for comic
It's taking me a little longer than I had previously thought it would to get this off the ground. Turns out writing is hard XD.
and I've been kind of shy about sharing but I'm going to start putting things out there.
The story takes place in and around the town of Pattermindy. Think fantasy medieval France- ish. A young woman by the name of Maisy Fairweather has just inherited an old brewer's cottage on the outskirts from her mentor.
She's a budding alchemist, capable of mixing incredible potions with just a pinch of true magic in them, and she's come to the countryside to train and hone her craft.
Her mentor left her everything inside the cottage, including a fae that he named Cassius. He's a bit of a grump and doesn't much care for people for reasons I'll get into later, but Maisy finds she can call upon his knowledge when she's crafting, and he's there if she ever needs a helping hand.
They quickly find themselves tangled in local politics as the newest heir to the throne wishes to reclaim the valley after the death of late lord Blackwood.
who had previously made arrangements with the witch of the wood. Agreeing to protect the valley and love her daughter.
Maisy is conscripted into working for the soldiers to brew healing ointments and potions of strength while they rebuild the ruin of Blackwood manor. The reconstruction unveils a dark part of the Blackwood's history. A beast buried deep under the fortress and left undisturbed for many years is suddenly revived.
