"Since Summer" - Band Update!
2024 is winding up busier than all of last year ... and we even got out on the road for a gig in Manchester last month!
Our glorious Dorchester Court "homecoming" was packed - a great crowd and also a stack of great talent including Paul Betts + Isabella Brandwood-Reed (pictured above with us and Dan Cross during our packed 'Heroes' encore), Lou Terry, Dan Cross + Peter O'Brien and Paul Kennedy (co-founder of seminals Salad) as Martpaul. Gestation until October, and then we got in another Off The Cuff gig with Dan, Paul and Camberwell mainstays The New Immigrants.
Then we hit the road to play an inaugural gig for OTC Antony Porter's new space, Fuel the Music Manchester, which is dedicated to supporting independent music.
And we're back in action this week as part of a Broken Art Collective revue in New Cross Inn, with a real Salad band bent!
For anyone not in the know, Salad originally formed in London back in 1992, and the initial line-up included Marijne van der Vlugt and guitarist Paul Kennedy. The band disbanded in 1998 and reformed in 2017. Since that time our guitarist Donald Ross Skinner has been Salad's drummer, Jon Hunt became an active member, and Paul Kennedy formed Martpaul. All three play the New Cross revue, and Paul Kennedy has had this to say:
"Hey groovers! Why not come on down or up to New Cross on the 19th of November to enjoy an invigorating and entertaining rock concert featuring three members of Salad performing in three different outfits? Plus the redoubtable Dan Cross?! (Note to self: look up "redoubtable".) It would be so gear to see you all there! The 17th person through the door gets a plastic windmill!"
