One of my least favorite things about Dandadan is how much they sexualize the characters and blame it on jokes or for the plot. A good example is the S/A scenes with Momo, the creator said it was for the plot to show how the monsters were evil but it was just unnecessary and there were so many better ways to show how the monsters are supposed to be evil. I feel like if it was written better and stayed a lasting trauma and not just a plot device it would have been a bit better (though not much) but they just used it as a plot device and ignored it after that.
Another example is the many scenes they draw the kids without clothes on, I get they are trying to be funny and stuff but the idea of grown people drawing teenagers without clothes is just gross. It’s also always unnecessary as-well. The plot is genuinely interesting and the animation is amazing but what they do with the plot and animation isn’t so cool sometimes.
