I received a free copy of this book from Second Story Press and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Alison wants nothing more than to be valedictorian. When her teacher offers to have her help produce the school play, Ali thinks that it'll be an easy way to keep her name in the running for valedictorian. Little does she know that her crush, Charlotte, is auditioning, and the teacher she is supposed to help produce the play disappears, leaving Ali as the sole producer for what her sister dubs "ye olde Shakespearean disaster".
I enjoyed this book. It was a nice LGBTQ romcom, but there were some things that were so frustrating. I realize high school theater had a million ups and downs (I was involved in the school musical all 4 years of high school and drama club from 5th through 12th grade), but some of the drama around the school theater seemed extreme. Maybe I lived in a community that took the arts more seriously than anywhere else, but the fact that no one wanted to help out with the background work seemed really weird. Also, Mr. Evans was just a very annoying character. I did like that Ali worked on her perfectionism and wanting to be great at everything, but she still got on my nerves at times.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, but it frustrated me more than I would've liked. I really liked Ben's character arc, even if I saw that coming from the second his character was introduced.

I'm excited for this one. I love the cover, I love Shakespeare (one of my favorite summer things is to see my local Shakespeare in the Park....it was cancelled for this summer), and I'm looking forward to what seems like it'll be a fun read.
