25 things I revisited and learned in my 25th year
— everyone is clueless about everything. there are no rules to life
— you will lose yourself trying to prove yourself. stay true
— $1,000 is basically $100 (especially in nyc)
— the weeks go by faster the older you get. optimize your time
— being on time is a sport, but will always put you ahead. (if you’re 15 mins early you’re on time)
— solitude builds lots of character, mental strength and self love
— nurturing platonic relationships / friendships is equally important
— the more you understand yourself, the better you will understand people
— being assertive will get you far, but being kind in the process will take you the distance
— ask questions and never accept just one truth
— agreeing to disagree saves so much energy.
— so does not arguing opinions. don’t
— don’t be afraid to ask for what you deserve. get straight to the point
— the mind can be deceiving, don’t stay in your head too much
— only buy the things you need. don’t cut your expenses, plan to earn more.
— getting older means diversifying your revenue streams in order to earn more. educate yourself on what that means for you (stock market, real estate, side hustle, businesses)
— it’s totally worth and taste 100% better heating your leftover food on the stove / in the oven. stop using the microwave
— take the time to build your wardrobe. it’s better to splurge on quality staple pieces than to spend $ on something that won’t last longer past the day / night you’re wearing it
— you only get one body, be mindful of what you consume physically and mentally
— it is okay to stay in the house and do nothing. [*never underestimate a weekend inside, with clean linen, candles, incense, and doordash]
— when ppl show you who they are the first time, believe them. it’s not your job to make them, believe who you have shown yourself to be too.
— time reveals everything and everything always works out
— you can start over as many times as you like and you are allowed to change your mind
— only speak from an informed and researched place. it’s okay to say that you’re not knowledgeable on a subject
— spend more time listening, than speaking and live in the present moment.
