Article of the day: by now you've surely seen a theme in much of what's been shared here: calling your representatives and trying to meet them in person is more effective than signing online petitions.  However, this doesn't mean that petitions are useless!  At the Monkey Cage, Daniel Carpenter notes that they have several benefits for both the signers and organizers of the petition.  Most notably, petitions help activist groups create lists of potential members -- and many people get their start in activism simply by putting their name on a petition.  So don't feel badly about signing the next petition that comes through your inbox.

I've become enamoured with an AU thought for the Dresden Files.

We know as of Peace Talks, that Daniel Carpenter has relatively quickly ended up married with a baby on the way post Ghost Stories.

And I like the idea of Daniel's pregnant wife secretly being one of Nicodemus' hereditary cultist stock. We know that they don't lose the tongue right away as an obvious tell they have to "earn" that. We also know that Felicia Raith got Daniel talking before about the sword so he is not entirely immune to charms.

Nicodemus meanwhile can't go near the Carpenters anymore but it's outright mentioned his mortal followers could. So this would be someone with a direct ear in and direct access, it would be a huge advantage. Daniel being away with the military on occasion is also a benefit for such a subterfuge as it gives more of a loose unobserved leash for anything she gets up to.

I feel it's absolutely the sort of devious shit Nicodemus Archleone would condone.

Viewers discretion - and in fact I'd love to hear how anyone else would run an idea like this if they had any thoughts - whether this was the cultist's own plan she brought forwards or his he told to do.

Also viewers discretion about how she ends up feeling about things by the end of it all. Redemption arc, loyal to His Cause to the end, or somewhere in the middle.

I know it isn't canon but it's fun to toy with as a concept.

I do wonder about the relationship between Daniel Carpenter and Karrin Murphy, Ghost Stories seems to imply there was almost an unconventional mentorship of sorts there but we don’t see much.

Just Daniel defend her case against Butters and express a very high opinion of “Ms Murphy”.

And Ghost!Dresden sussing that along with his training from his parents, Daniel had likely had training from Murphy and the Einherjar…the latter of which likely would have also had to have been sourced through her.

I wonder what it was like for Murphy, who was impatient with him when we saw her, trying go keep this kid alive who was determined to do the right thing (and impatient/hot-headed enough to fuck up in the process.)

All the while grieving Dresden.

All the while Molly Carpenter has become an absolute mess nobody trusts.

All the while we know Murphy was on good terms with Daniel’s mother Charity too. A mother who would want him home.

And funnily I do wonder if this inadvertently put Daniel on some sort of Einherjar list, if something had killed him in the process of working with the Chicago Alliance.

The Mosby apprenticeship is a year-long intensive on-the-job training program that pays Missouri state minimum wage as you learn carpentry skills from the Mosby production crew. After successful completion of the program, each apprentice will have the opportunity to apply for a full-time position with Mosby Building Arts or have the qualifications to work elsewhere in the construction industry.

Mosby accepts up to 5 apprentices each year. No previous construction experience is required. We will train each apprentice to Mosby standards, with a $1,000 completion award at the end of the year-long program.
