A few weeks ago, after Spotify announced it will be pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into the AI drone weapon technologies of Helsing (for which Spotify CEO Daniel Ek is chairman), the bands Deerhoof and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard pulled all of their music from the streaming service. Xiu Xiu is working to join them.
A few days ago, Godspeed You! Black Emperor pulled their music from every streaming service except for their Bandcamp page, which is managed directly by their record company Constellation.
Incidentally here is the art their album Yanqui U.X.O. came packaged in, illustrating how a large portion of the music industry feeds its funds directly into defense industries.

I am going to say this Spotify is NOT just funding a random drone warfare and I'm SICK of people spreading drone scare online and withholding important information. Helsing defense company literally aids Ukrainian Armed Forces and Helsing have a long term commitment with Ukraine

Do you know why Helsing exists? Because russia annexed Ukrainian Crimea in 2014. And the only reason you guys feel like knights in shining armour on a white horse is because "drones = bad, we are against anything bad, ceos bad, corporations bad". But unfortunately we do not live in a world where we can allow ourselves to go without weapons. The world has already asked Ukraine to give up its nuclear weapons and guarantees are not worth shit.

None of you know how big a country wide air raid alert IS. None of you HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH WAR.
We need anything we are capable to find to fight russia back and you seem to have forgotten what destruction russian manpower is able to bring, what horrors on occupied territories or in captivity. Because everything I see is "guys let's boycott spotify because theyll be making ai powered drones that's bad" for whom??? Ukrainians fundraise a lot of drones by themselves because that's the means to fight back a numerous enemy like russia. If not for borders there would be air raids over Europe too, but hey good thing russia has personal beef with Ukraine, right?
You know what else is about drones? Ukraine has literally revolutionized drone warfare because of the way UAF use drones on a russian territory to weaken it. If I were to trust anyone with drones it would be Ukraine, and Ukrainians are not only fighting the war for their existence but also for Europe and the rest of the world too and it should be in your interest.
I am going to remind you that THE EARTH IS ROUND AND RUSSIA IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER BY ALASKA. And they have strong propaganda regarding taking "their" land back and if we do not as a world defeat russia sooner russian troops will be slaughtering people in other countries and taking more land.
Can we moralize about ai (although I doubt any of you know how technologies work on the battlefield) when you will be fighting back an enemy as bloodthirsty as russia is? Then I'm going to look you in the eyes and tell you "but you know drones are bad they bring war" as you are going to beg for weapons because you need something to fight back with

Maybe there could be a different timeline where we frown upon any and all drones but this is not the reality, the reality is that international law doesn't work and noone knows how to read (if you guys knew how to read my post wouldn't exist and you would be mentioning Ukraine in your drone panic videos). And people in unbombed countries believe in peace through negotiations.
Can the fate of my country not depend on some "anti-war" internet users who don't know what they're talking about? STOP SCARING PEOPLE AND TELL THE FACTS

P.s.: ill add this, if you have a problem directly with spotify for some stuff they actually do that's fine by me, my whole rant is because people demonize Helsing and the only message they see is "woah spotify ceo promotes drone warfare". My ass, they aid Ukrainian Armed Forces, please learn to read.

I'm working on switching over to Tidal, it seems to be very similar but pays the artists more than a fraction of a cent. You can also transfer all your playlists over, 500 tracks for free, more if you have a membership
This is just meant as a heads up. Spotify's CEO now chairman is also up to no good in other ways (like being involved in weaponry) as well but Spotify also doesn't pull AI artists off their platform among manyyyyyy other issues

I know what your thinking - there are more ethical alternatives - and that is absolutely true! Infact I highly incourage everyone to use them if they can!
But that's just it, 'If they can'. All of the alternatives (that I have found so far - thank you to everyone who does the research and shares it!) cost money that some people just don't have.
